Edna M. Eagan, age 96, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Wells House Nursing Home, Johnstown with her loving family by her side.
She was born on March 9, 1920, in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late William J. Maurice and Laura Thibodeau Maurice.
Edna was of the Catholic faith and a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Johnstown. She was educated in the Amsterdam School System. In her early years, she was employed at St. Thomas Inc., Woolshu, Garfalls Leather Inc. and later at Knox Gelatine Inc. Mrs. Eagan retired from Knox Gelatine Inc. in 1975 after twenty years of service.
Edna married Thomas M. Eagan on June 29, 1940, at St. Francis De Sales Church in Gloversville. Rev. Peter Winkleman officiated and Martha Snell and Robert Hamil were attendants. Thomas and Edna were happily married for 75 years.
Survivors are husband, Thomas M. Eagan of Johnstown; son, Gary (Linda) of Broadalbin; three grandchildren, Thomas (Valerie) of West Charlton, Mark (Sara) of Ohio and Mary (James) of Broadalbin; ten grandchildren, Eliza, Carson and Grayson of West Charlton, Owen, Addison, Eli, Jude and Gabriel of Ohio, Kendall and Evan Riley of Broadalbin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edna was predeceased by three sisters, Ida Rocca, Eva Isola and Eugenie (Jean) Pryme; and two brothers, Harvey W. Maurice and William L. Maurice.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown, New York.
Visitation for family and friends will be this afternoon, Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
