Martin Edward Gerald McClary

Martin Edward Gerald McClary, 58, of Mayfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, after a brief but incredibly courageous battle with cancer. After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1976, he joined the apprenticeship program at GE in Schenectady and worked as a toolmaker for many years. He then started a masonry business which he owned and operated for more than 25 years. Marty had a “never quit” attitude exemplified by the fact that he was working up until shortly before his passing. His work ethic was only eclipsed by his tremendous love for his family and dear friends. Marty had an incredible intellect and his recall of names, facts and details was uncanny. Marty was an avid hiker and loved the outdoors – completing hikes on Mt. McLoughlin and Mt. Hood recently. He loved the Boston Red Sox and was known for making spur of the moment plans that made for awesome memories with family and friends.

Marty is survived by his children, Jeremy Daniel McClary (Tammy Austin) and Ashley Ann McClary (Nate Biron); and his latest pride and joy – grandson, Waylon Martin Biron. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Margaret Giblin McClary. He also is survived by his three siblings, Mike “Monica” McClary, Maureen “Sid” McClary and Mary Miller; and a nephew, Sam McClary.

The family welcomes you to join them in a celebration of Marty’s life at Lanzi’s on the Lake on Thursday, June 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Please bring your favorite “Martyism.” In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/martymcclary.
