Betty M. Davis, age 93, of Trackside Homes in Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born on March 12, 1923, in Gloversville, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Madeline Bixby Lynch. She attended Gloversville High School. Betty was the past president of the VFW Post 125 Ladies Auxiliary in Plattsburgh, New York, where she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of the American Legion in Plattsburgh. She was the past treasurer of The Trackside Tenants Association, a member of the Red Hats and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Betty married her loving husband, Edmund A. Davis at St. Mary’s Church on July 7, 1946. It was a union that lasted 52 years until his passing on December 5, 1998.
Survivors include her loving family: daughter, Madeline Plummer (Fred); sons, Paul Davis (Mary-Jo) and Edmund Davis (Merry); sisters, Anna Groves, Jane Sweet, Mary Blood and Florence Hogiapan; brothers, Edward Watson and Jack Lynch; grandchildren, Jodi Richardson (Dave) and Donald Howell (Janet); great-grandchildren, Angelica Conklin (Josh) and Justin Howell; great-great-grandsons, Noah and Ethan Conklin. Betty was predeceased by her sister, Doris Paul; and her brothers, Thomas and James Lynch.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. Calling hours for which family and friends may attend will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, at the convenience of the family.
