Catherine M. Landrio

Catherine M. Landrio, 94, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. She fought continuously and courageously against various ailments that plagued her in the past nine years.

Catherine was famous for her Cato (potato cake). She tirelessly made it because everyone loved it. She loved playing bingo and getting dressed up to go out. She will be remembered for her gentleness and generosity. She now will join her beloved husband, Salvatore Landrio, whom she married on August 13, 1944. She missed him tremendously since his passing December 18, 2011, after 67 years of marriage.

Catherine was the daughter of Vito and Maria Martini. She had one brother, Henry, who is deceased. She was born and educated in Amsterdam. She worked as a glove maker for Grandoe Gloves and Papa’s Gloves. However, her greatest joy was raising her three children, Sally, Donald (Marijean) and Jim (Kelly) Landrio. She leaves behind her children and four grandchildren, Anthony (Amanda) Landrio, Gina Landrio, Melissa (Chris) Davie and Michelle (Seth) Brown. She absolutely adored five great-grandchildren, Shea and Baylor Davie, Ada and Agusto Landrio and Breckin Brown. She also leaves behind several nieces and a nephew that have been so kind and attentive to her.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 30, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 South Main Street, Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
