Kathryn Elizabeth Smullen, 53, passed away peacefully at Wells Nursing Home Inc., on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, with her loving family by her side. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Kathy was born on April 18, 1963, to Andrew Harnichar and Elizabeth “Betty” Voelker Harnichar in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Kathy was a graduate of Bishop Scully in Amsterdam and the College of St. Rose, in Albany, with a BS in business administration. She was employed at City National Bank (NBT), in Gloversville. Kathy loved life and her family, especially her boys. They were what was most important to her. She also enjoyed being involved in sports, camping with family and loved listening to her ’70s-’80s era music.
Kathryn leaves behind her loving husband, James; beloved sons, Zachary Smullen along with his wife, Nicole of North Carolina and Travis Smullen of Gloversville; grandchildren, Jayce and Aubree; her loving parents, Andrew and Betty Harnichar; a brother, Mark Harnichar and his wife, Deborah Hermance of Northville; her sister, Michelle Peryea and her husband, Robert of Amsterdam. Kathy also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Kathy was a loved member of the Smullen family, Julia, George, Jack Smullen, Sandra McCane (Daniel), Brenda Capodiferro (James), and Judith Manzer (Richard). She also deeply appreciated the enduring friendship and guidance of co-workers, Tammy Warner and Paula Tucker.
Kathy’s family wishes to thank Dr. Susan A Weaver of NYOH, Lexington Center and Wells Nursing Home staff for the compassionate care extended to Kathy, during her long illness.
Kathryn’s family invites relatives and friends to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home LLC, 15 N.
