Michol E. Smith, 64, of McQueen Road Amsterdam died Monday evening September 26, 2016 at the Fulton Center for Rehab. & Health Care, Gloversville.
She was born in Amsterdam on March 30, 1952 a daughter of Armand and Gertrude Stangle Natale and was a 1970 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Michol graduated from the Albany Medical College of Nursing as a licensed practical nurse. She later graduated from the Europa School of Cosmetology. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong area resident.
She operated Michol’s Salon in Amsterdam and later was employed as a regional maintenance supervisor with the New York State Thruway Association for 13 years. She retired in 2006.
Michol was a devoted grandmother and adored all of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends. Michol enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy and solitaire. She also loved spending time at the ocean.
She was married to Charles L. Smith on November 24, 1973. He died on December 5, 2014. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Corey, who died in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron D. Smith of Broadalbin and Micah C. (Angela) Smith of Perth; a daughter, Amanda M. (Jarrod) Skinner of Amsterdam; a brother, David (Rhonda) Natale of Amsterdam; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 3pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown with Deacon Michael Ryba. Calling hours will follow the service and conclude at 6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
