Rodney Alan Floyd

Rodney Alan Floyd, 78, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Born December 8, 1937, in Mayfield, he was the son of the late Horace G. and Elsie M. Johnson Floyd.

Rodney was a union worker of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 7. He loved to garden, growing vegetables and flowers. Rodney enjoyed having several picnics and holiday dinner parties at the house. He will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Elsie M. Floyd; sons, Robert (Tina) and Richard (Kristy) Floyd; daughter, Terry Lynn (Rodney) Sweet; brother, Larry E. Floyd; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Rodney is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Timothy A. Floyd; first born granddaughter, Christina D. Veltri; and brother, Gordon H. Floyd.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Monday, October 17, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Hackett officiating. Burial will follow for Rodney and his son, Timothy at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rodney’s memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, New York, 12078.
