Bernhard Lenz, 67, of South Shore Road, Broadalbin, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Little Falls.
He was born in Kleinbulten, Germany on June 9, 1949, a son of Bauer G. and Augustine Krieger Lenz and moved to the United States at age one. Bernie lived on the family farm in Ballston Spa and later moved to Amsterdam where he was educated. He lived in Broadalbin for the past thirty years. Bernie became a U.S. citizen in 1976.
At the time of his death, he was employed as a technician at H & M Equipment in Amsterdam, where he worked for twenty one years.
Bernie was a member of the Adirondack-Catskill Chapter of Safari Club International and the Fish House Fish & Game Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Mussen Lenz, whom he married on June 28, 1970; two sons, Robert B. Lenz and Bernie D. Lenz, both of Broadalbin; a granddaughter, Hannah Lenz, whom he adored; and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown, with the Rev. Chris J. Wintermute, officiating. Burial will be in Hagaman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adirondack-Catskill CSI, in care of the funeral home.
