Mrs. Ruth A. Bisset, age 80, longtime Gloversville resident, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where she has resided for nearly four years.
She was born October 7, 1936 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Robert and Ruth Crowe Billington. A 1954 graduate of Cumberland High School, she was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Rhode Island for 8 years. She moved to Gloversville in 1968 where she worked in various medical practices until retiring in 1995.
Ruth was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the former Sacred Heart Church and its Rosary Society. She was a past member of the Pine Brook Golf Club and the Kingsboro Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert W. Bisset of Gloversville; three children: R. Scott Bisset of Dallas TX, Christine McDermott (Timothy) of St. Louis, MO and David A. Bisset (Tanya) of Dallas, TX and two granddaughters, Haley B. McDermott and Brooklyn Bisset.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 noon Monday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant.
