Mr. Robert Alan Richardson Sr., 53, of Gloversville, NY died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 28, 2016 following a brief illness.
A lifetime area resident, Robert was born in Gloversville, on July 15, 1963 to Phyllis Flansburg Richardson Holland and the late George A. Richardson Jr. Robert graduated from Gloversville High School in 1981 and went on to attend Chauffeur Training School. He received his CDL and Tow Truck Endorsement.
From 1988- 2007 he resided in N. Fort Myers Florida where he drove tractor trailers, tow trucks and dump trucks. He truly loved being on the road and driving “big trucks”. After moving back to Gloversville, he worked for Pearl Leather Finishers.
Robert enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheelers, dirt bikes, putting models together and his train set. He also had a passion for cooking- since he was old enough to see the top of a stove. When he was young, Robert would hang out at Frank Youngs Junkyard, and was nicknamed “Little Frank.” Most of all he enjoyed hanging out at the Miss Johnstown Diner and Big Mike’s, chatting and being with friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis; children, Skyler Richardson and Robert A. Richardson Jr.; his two dogs, Puppie Doobie Richardson and SadieAnn Anna Richardson; his sisters, Susan Gannon, Heidi Holland, Holly LaMont, all of Gloversville; brothers, George and Roger Richardson, all of N. Fort Myers, FL; Aunt Ruthie; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; one great great niece; and one great great nephew.
He was predeceased by his father George in 1986; brothers, Glen in 1959 and Vernon in 2007; sisters, Rosemary and Darlene, both in 2004; and his grandmother, Anna Samrov Flansburg in 1986.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 9 Mile Tree Rd, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steel Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
