Shirley A. Handy

Shirley A. Handy, 80, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 16, 1936 in Gloversville, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Marion Tuttle Waffle. Shirley was a lifelong resident of the area.

Shirley was an avid bowler and was on various bowling leagues throughout the area, she also loved to polka dance. Many days you could find Shirley playing her Nintendo and her favorite game Dr. Mario. Shirley loved her animals, especially her dogs and cats. Most of all Shirley was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and friend; she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving family, daughter, Sherry Ann Hayward (David); grandchildren, Mandy Elmendorf, Damian Handy, Caitlyn Hayward and Elizabeth Hayward; great grandchildren, Tayler and Madisen Elmendorf; ex-husband, Donald Handy (Shirley). Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Waffle and her sisters, Midge Jordan and Betty Chapman.

At the family’s request the will be no formal services for Shirley. Donations in Shirley’s name can be made to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN, 56007-8001.
