Ida Elizabeth Jeffers, 90, formerly of Sloansville and Gloversville, died Tuesday, March 21 at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, where she had resided for one year.
Ida was born Januart 14, 1927 in Sloansville, N.Y., a daughter of Harlo and Jodean (Bartholomew) Bray. She graduated from Schoharie High School class of 1944 and later, the Nathan Littauer Nursing Training School, where she received her RN degree in 1947. She worked for the James Zullo Opthalmology office in Gloversville for over 25 years and later, Fulton County Health Department and finally Mountain Valley Hospice, where she retired in 1996. She was a long time member of the Central Bridge United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star of Northville, and served on the Broadalbin School Board for 12 years.
She married Howard Ralph “Jeff” Jeffers on April 30, 1949. He predeceased her on December 14, 2008. Survivors include her brother, Walter “Jim” (Jaylynn) Bray of Delhi, her sister Susan (Kenneth) Schweigard of Sloansville along with several nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her sisters Olive “Toni” Bray and Blanche Karker.
As per Ida’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Friday May 5 at 11 a.m. at the Sloansville Valley Cemetery, Route 30A followed by a fellowship luncheon at the Central Bridge United Methodist Church.
