Lillian M. ‘Diddy’ Frederick

Lillian M. “Diddy” Frederick, 94, formerly of Route 30, Amsterdam, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.

She was born in Mayfield on August 1, 1922, a daughter of Raymond and Edna Cole Frederick and moved to Perth at age 6. Diddy was a 1940 graduate of Perth Central School. She was a longtime resident of Perth.

Miss Frederick was employed as a knitter at the former Johnstown Knitting Mill.

She was a member of the Broadalbin Baptist Church.

In her younger years, Lillian was an avid bowler. She will be always be remembered by her nieces and nephews for the special birthday gifts she gave. Diddy loved company and was a great visitor. No matter the length of the visit, she would always say, “What’s your hurry?”

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, G. Jean and Bettie Frederick; and five brothers, Jack, Joseph, Robert, Lewis, and Richard Frederick.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Douglas (Barbara) Frederick of Perth; a special great-niece, Lisa Orapello of Perth; two sisters-in-law, Marion Frederick of Perth and Judy Frederick of Broadalbin.

Cremation was performed at Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady. A memorial service will be held at a later date with final burial of remains to be at Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial contibutions may be made to the Broadalbin Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown.
