Nancy M. Michell, 82, of South Shore Road, Northville, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born in Winsted, CT on August 20, 1934, a daughter of Albert and Etta Benedict Luke and was educated there. Nancy moved to New York in 1966 when she met and married Jack Michell, the love of her life. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. For several years, Nancy and Jack spent winters in Arizona.
Nancy was a licensed real estate agent and worked in real estate in New York. Later, she was employed in reservations with Southwest Airlines in Phoenix, AZ, until retiring in 1997.
Nancy enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, and sewing and knitting. She loved hosting family dinners and spending time with family and friends. She also loved watching the wildlife in her backyard.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Luke; and sister, Beverly Welch.
Survivors include her loving husband, John “Jack” Michell, whom she married on November 12, 1966; three sons, Gregg Palmer of Phoenix, AZ, David Palmer of Prescott, AZ, and Scott (Barb) Michell of Northville; a daughter, Susan (Patrick) Ford of Northville; a brother, David (Joyce) Luke of East Hampton, CT; seven grandchildren, Traci Shear-Cooper, Brandon Palmer, Haley Deacon, Katrina Ives, Michael Ford, Danielle Bartlett and Sarah Newhart; a great-granddaughter, Mia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown. A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Martin, officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Union Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edinburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps, in care of the funeral home.
