Wheaton W. Roser, 90, of Stevers Mills Road, Broadalbin died Tuesday March 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam.
He was born in Amsterdam on January 1, 1927 a son of Wheaton and Hattie Gifford Roser and was educated there. Mr. Roser moved to Broadalbin in 1955.
He was employed at General Electric in Schenectady and later at Mohawk Cabinets in Gloversville. Wheaton worked at Mohasco for nearly 20 years as a machine operator, until the company relocated. Mr. Roser retired from Mohawk Furniture in Broadalbin about twenty years ago.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and proudly served during World War II.
Mr. Roser was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin.
He enjoyed woodworking and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Cloutier Roser, whom he married on September 4, 1955; four sons, Timothy and Jon Roser, both of Broadalbin, Thomas (Peggy) Roser of Galway, and Kevin Roser of Plattsburg; a sister, Laverna Saltsman of Fort Johnson; six grandchildren, Kristopher, Joshua, Jessica, Alexandra, Tanner, and Meghan; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, Joshua, and Jacob; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 6 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jun Segura, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
