Dorothy F. Ferraro, 78, of Gloversville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 14, 1938, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Helen Evans and Ben Anderson.
Dorothy worked as a manager and cook in the Gloversville school system for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved her Yorkie, Nikki. She was a gracious hostess to her family and friends, and loved entertaining them.
Survivors include her son, Gary Ferraro of Gloversville; daughter, Lisa Whitt (Gary) of Baldwinsville, NY; brothers and sisters, Edward Anderson (Peggy), Frances Carter, Helen Leggiero (Peter), Patty DeMaria (Guido), Bernie Andrzejewski (Helen); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kassidy Bowering, Kalob Whitt, Bethanie Whitt and Gary Whitt. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Peter “Gary” Ferraro.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Spring burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, will be held at a time to be announced.
