Hazel Van Heusen, 96, of the Town of Hope, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville following a brief illness. Her loving family was by her side.
Born August 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Robert and Rose Robinson Bennett. She is a graduate of Northville Central School, class of 1936. Hazel was employed by Serfis Glove Company in Northville for many years until its closing. She then worked for MCA in Gloversville.
She married John Van Heusen Oct. 1, 1938. They shared a union of 52 years until his passing in 1990.
Survivors include sons, Philip Van Heusen (Judy), Gary Van Heusen (Marcia) and Mark Van Heusen (June) and a daughter, Phyllis Insognia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband John, she is predeceased by son in law, Ricardo (Butch) Insognia, great grandchild Gabrielle Van Heusen, a sister, Helen Coulombe, and a brother, Howard Bennett.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from 1p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Service, 401 Bridge Street, Northville N.Y. 12134. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard C. Klueg. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.
