James Stuart Turnbull, age 87, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
He was born on February 20, 1930, in Garrattsville, New York, a son of the late George and Vivian Turnbull.
Mr. Turnbull honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a teacher and guidance counselor for the Fonda-Fultonville Central School System for 30 years. He loved being outside, going for walks, square dancing and reading.
Survivors include his son, Michael Turnbull and daughter, Nancy Turnbull; three stepsons, Scott Frair, Vincent Frair and Scott John; two stepdaughters, Kelley Carlson and Dawn Frair; two brothers, Bruce Turnbull and Howard Turnbull; two grandchildren, Anthony Turnbull and Thomas Panasiuk; special family members, Erica Mattice, Marriana Mattice, Brian Hicks, Malinda Fisher, Benjamin Albert and Jerry Albert; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Turnbull was predeceased by his wife, Marie Frair Turnbull, with whom he lived happily in Pennsylvania for many years. His brother, John Turnbull; and sister, Isabell Winters, also predeceased him.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. with funeral services conducted at 5 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY 12095.
Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
