Burton (Burt) Shields Lesser, 91, of Ephrata, Washington, graduated to Glory Sunday morning, April 23, 2017, surviving many years of dementia. His wife of 57 years, daughter and staff of The Coolidge House were with him.
Burt was born to Burton and Marion Lesser November 8, 1925, of Johnstown, New York. Graduating from Johnstown High in 1944, he joined the Army Air Corps for training in Louisiana and then was sent to Germany and England, working in the 40th Bomb Wing 8th Division as photographics technician.
With an honorable discharge in April 1947, and under the GI Bill, he matriculated at Syracuse U and graduated with degrees in civil engineering and photogrammetry.
After years as a highway design engineer, he married Michaela Maria Henich of New Rochelle, New York on January 14, 1961.
He is survived by his wife; sons, David (Rowena) of Florida and Buck of Texas; and daugher, Gena (Tom) of Waterville, Wash.; sisters, Ruth Edwards and Sally Bouchaud; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great and grand nephews and nieces, all out-of-state. All supported him in love and prayer.
His wife, Michaela gives heartfelt thanks to relatives, church families and dear friends for their prayer support without which these years of the long death would have been unbearable.
Rejoice that the Lord always keeps his word. “He who believes in me and my word and the one who sent me has everlasting life. He passes from death unto life (eternal). — John 5:24.
There will not be a memorial service.
