Mrs. Lorraine Ross Muller, 98, of Johnstown, NY, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY. She was of the Protestant faith and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Johnstown, NY.

Lorraine was born on November 6, 1918, to the late James Hanley and Gretchen (Margaret) Zimmermanm in Manhattan, NY. She was a graduate of Julia Richmond High School in New York City. Lorraine then went on to get a BS at Hunter College in New York. During World War II, she proudly served her country from home, working as a chemist for the Picatinny Arsenal, Picatinny, NJ. On Sept. 20, 1942, she was married to her husband and love, William Herman Muller. Lorraine was a school teacher on Long Island for many years and went on to work in the Building and Engineering Dept. of NYC Board of Education where she worked with her late husband, William H. Muller, who passed in 1982, the year Lorraine also retired. It was then she moved to Johnstown and loved her community and staying active with her friends. Lorraine belonged to many groups throughout her life, but especially enjoyed her affiliations with Grace Lutheran Church, Johnstown Seniors, Johnstown Historical Society, Friends of the Johnstown Library and serving as a board member for the Willing Helpers Home for Women. She was an avid bridge player and loved spending time with her family and loved ones at her Stoner Lake camp for over 50 years. Lorraine lived a full and meaningful life and will be missed dearly by those who loved her.

Lorraine leaves behind her son, Richard D. Muller of Vermillion, S.D.; her daughter, Meredith and son-in-law, Lansing Lord of Johnstown; her beloved grandchildren, Spencer B. Lord of Boston, MA and Heather M. Lord of Pasadena, CA; and her two great-grandchildren, Asher E. Wolenik and Madeline L. Wolenik, also of Pasadena, CA. She was predeceased by not only her husband and parents, but also her brother, James A. Ross; her sisters, Jaunice A. Berglof and Dawn A. Daubert and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Muller.

The family invites relatives and friends to attend a visitation period on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home LLC, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, NY 12095. A memorial service will immediately follow calling hours and be held at the funeral home.
