Rickie Miller, age 68, a resident of Wells, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, at home with his loving family by his side. Rick was born at home in Speculator, NY to Loretta and Dan Miller. Hard work was always a part of Rick’s life, be it hauling 10 foot slabs of wood at age 8 in his father’s sawmill, to at 14 in Ohio working on his father’s Amish relatives farms.
Escaping to the Marine Corps in 1968, he was assigned to duty on the aircraft carrier WASP, leaving the corps as a sergeant; later as manager of Rustic Wood Creations until retirement.
Rick always enjoyed helping people, never seeking recognition, but he believed “That’s just what one did.”
In 2015 he was baptized at the Wells Wesleyan Church where he found peace in his heart with our Lord. He was a multi-talented man, loving to cook, garden, build, fix and create.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Gretchen; cherished children, Rickie (Kim) and Carrie; grandson, Daniel; granddaughters, Kaylie, Jill and Madison; and great-granddaughter, Rylie; brothers, Ron (Peggy) and Garry (Janet). He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
