Ronald R. Kelley, age 77, of Johnstown, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a brief illness.
He was born on November 5, 1939 in Decatur, Illinois, the only child of the late Russell Raymond Kelley and Mildred Fern Shorbs Kelley.
Ron worked at one time on the railroad and was retired from the New York City Opera and the New York City Ballet, where he had worked as a fitter and sometimes a walk-on in their various productions. Ron was an avid collector of classical music and Opera, as well as movies. He enjoyed the arts and spent summers going to area venues for the free concerts in the parks. Ron also supported and loved the Schenectady Curling Club, Irish 2000 Arts/Music Festival, the Capital District Scottish Games and enjoyed going to the Ren-Fest at Sterling and Tuxedo, New York.
Ronald R. Kelley was surrounded by some of his beloved friends when he passed quietly in his sleep. A truer friend will be hard to find. All who knew him will carry fond memories of him in their hearts.
Ron is survived by his cousin, Jean, and her husband, Wayne Good, of Frisco, Texas; friends Ed Snell, Teddy A. Germain and the rest of the Germain family, as well as his beloved cat Moxie R. Kelley-Germain and great nephew dog, Lil Squirt.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
