James Dana Dustin, age 45, of Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on October 31, 1971 in Gloversville, a son of the late Charles R. Dustin and Hilda Hillabrandt Dustin of Johnstown, who survives.

Jim was a Class of 1990 graduate of Johnstown High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from SUNY Utica. James had worked for Lexington since 2003, with the majority of his time working as a key member of the 15 Lexington team. In 2015, he joined the Day Hab team at Burke. He was always professional and patient, kind and supportive to the individuals he worked with.

James was a husband and a father of two young children. His children meant the world to him and if you had the chance to hear him talk about them, you quickly knew that they brought great joy to his life.

His co-workers describe him as incredibly kind-hearted, a gentle soul, dedicated to making the lives of each person he supported better, and last but not at all least, James was one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Mr. Dustin was of the Catholic faith. He was Aquaman’s biggest fan and despite their record, he was an unashamed Mets fan.

In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his wife Jessica Rian Carr Dustin who he married on May 16, 2005, one son Oliver Charles Dustin, one daughter Penelope Helena Dustin, one brother Dr. Cary Dean Dustin and his wife Miriam of Stratford; two sisters Debra Mowrey of Johnstown and Lynne Dustin (Paul Hudson) of Fort Plain, mother-in-law Stephanie Schmidt and her husband Thomas of Whitesboro, one sister-in-law Aleeta Sutter and her husband Jason of Denver, Colorado and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
