Martin A. Hanna, age 79, a resident of Northville, died September 12, 2017, at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam following a long illness. He was born in Amsterdam, NY, on June 27, 1938, the son of the late Andrew “Clarence” and Helen Casler Hanna.
Marty was a graduate of Wilber Lynch High School, class of 1956, and a graduate of Paul Smith’s College, class of 1958. He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1963 to 1965. He was employed as a District Ranger Captain for NYSDEC of Northville until his retirement.
He was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, the Amsterdam Lodge Masonic Temple and the American Legion Post 1076 of Northville.
On May 14, 1971, he married Elizabeth Y. “Bunny” Hanna, who predeceased him on November 8, 2016. Survivors include his son, Andrew Hanna of Amsterdam; one niece, Meghan Harlem; and nephew, Sean Hanna; sister-in-law, Linda Hana of Naples, Florida. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Hanna.
Friends may call on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Northville Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg.
