Mrs. Betty Weaver Talcott, 79, of Glebe Street, Johnstown, New York, died Friday, November 24, 2017, at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown.

Born on May 19, 1938, in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Robert Weaver and Clara Ferguson Weaver. She attended Fort Plain schools and was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Talcott was the owner and operator of Betty’s Second Hand Shop, originating out of her home in St. Johnsville, and opening several small shops in the area.

She loved decorations and enjoyed buying and selling stuff for her shops, often covering every inch of wall space. She loved her dogs.

On December 28, 1992, in Johnstown, NY, Betty was married to Fred Talcott. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2017. Her son, Robert Roy Dingman also predeceased her.

Mrs. Talcott is survived by her daughters, Christina Dingman and Kelly LaCoppola of Johnstown, NY, Cynthia Dingman of CA; sons, Bradley Dingman and Pamela of VA, Jeffrey Dingman and Debi of Greenwich, NY, John Chatterton and Bernadette of Perth, NY; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashlee, Samantha, Bradley, Jason, Barbara, Krystal, Breanna, John Robert, Brittany; 18 great-grandchildren; and her furbaby, Soxy.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
