Denise Gail Ovitt Cuccolo of Middletown, NY, devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, Occtober 31, 2017, at home with her loving family by her side. She was 48 years old. The daughter of Gary and Julia Stearns Ovitt, Denise was born on April 23, 1969, in Gloversville, N.Y. Denise was a 1987 graduate of GHS with two years at FMCC. She married Christopher M. Cuccolo on June 15, 1996, in Gloversville, N.Y. They moved to Middletown 19 years ago from New Jersey.
Denise was a wonderful wife and mother and was a friend to anyone in need. She was family oriented and adored her children. She loved the beach and being on or in the ocean. She liked cruises and spending time playing in the water with the kids. She was also good to her nieces and nephews and took them with her family to Disney. She was a “Mama Bear” who always took care of the kids. Denise was independent and strong and fought a hard battle throughout her illness.
In addition to her beloved husband Chris, she is survived by her three cherished children, Alex of Newport News, VA, Christopher of Queens, N.Y., and Olivia at home; her mother, Julia of Lehigh Acres, FL; her father, Gary (Lisa) of Sloansville, N.Y.; her brothers, David Ovitt of Gloversville, N.Y., Michael Ovitt (Liz) of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. and Joseph Miranda Jr. (Kim) of Greene, N.Y.; sisters, Danelle Ovitt of Lehigh Acres, FL, Jennifer Goodman (Terry) of Greensboro, N.C., Justina Vandermark (Tony) of Madison, N.Y.; her mother and father-in-law, John T. and Marianne Cuccolo of Cranford, N.J.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her stepfather, Joseph Miranda Sr.
A service to celebrate Denise’s life was held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Middletown, N.Y. Cremation will be private at the convenience of the family.
