Gertrude R. House, age 93, of Meco, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville.
She was born on October 4, 1924, in the town of Johnstown, the daughter of the James and Elmira Van Lone Sweeney.
Gertrude was a graduate of Johnstown High School and was employed for many years as a glove worker for Crescendoe Gloves in Johnstown. She also worked as a cafeteria aide for the Gloversville School District. Mrs. House was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Oppenheim-Ephratah Senior Citizens.
Mrs. House is survived by one son, Leonard “Len” House and his wife Nancy of Mayfield; one daughter, Susann Williams and her husband David of Johnstown; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Leon C. House, whom she married on March 30, 1946, and who passed on May 25, 2017; and one infant son, Roy James House.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Private cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
