Julia Rose Wray

Julia Rose Wray, age 76 years, of Fultonville, passed away at home with her family by her side on November 19, 2017. She was born August 27, 1941, in Manhattan, NY, and is the daughter of the late Walter and Julia (Curley) Connolly.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Wray; and a loving mother of six children, Veronica (Jim) Armbruster, James (Liz) Wray, Juliette Lynch and Charlie Grimshaw, Danielle (Jason) Wray-Walter, Lorraine (Kevin) Corcoran, Francis (Brittany) Wray. Also survived by her brothers and sisters, Ellen and Milton McPherson, Susan and Brian Thornton, Patricia and Jack Quinlan, Mary Connolly and Ken McElroy, and Nora Connolly. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by Joan Connolly, Walter and Linda Connolly.

During her lifetime Julia was a graduate of Incarnation, and Cathedral High School. She worked for Immigrant Savings Bank as a personnel secretary. She also worked at the Poplars Inn for many years, as a manager, where she was known as “Momma Jude.” She is a communicant of St Cecilia Church where she was a Secular Franciscan, and a member of the Alter Rosary Society, CCD instructor, and also a Eucharistic Minister. She was an accomplished artist, and will be known for her witty humor and her ability to touch others with her warmth and generosity.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Jackson & Betz Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072, on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Cecilia’s Church, 28 Broadway, Fonda NY 12068 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Chris Welch, the celebrant. A burial in the family plot of the St. Cecilia’s Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor New York, NY 10001.
