Mrs. Mary Ann Robertson of Wells, NY, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2017, at River Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born in Astoria, NY on August 23, 1939, she is the daughter of the late John A. and Mable Ferris Robertson.
Mary Ann was a principal of a school for the deaf; she also used her ability to sign by translating for others in places such as church. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wells, NY and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mary Ann enjoyed trips with the group and hosting family gatherings at her home. For a period of time she also helped deliver Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband, Edward R. McCarthy, whom she wed on May 1, 1982. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Robertson of FL; and nieces and nephews, Kathy Devita, John Robertson, Terry Leon, David Roberson and Patty Schaniel. Many great-nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a nephew, James Robertson.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Service Inc., 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017, with Father Jun Segura at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Wells.
