Roland H. Grindrod, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 9, 2017. He was born in Cold Spring, NY on August 4, 1945, son of the late Roland H. and Margaret Grindrod. He taught social studies and computer applications at Knox Jr. High School, in Johnstown, NY, from 1968 until his retirement in 2000.
During those years, he was active in the Johnstown Teachers’ Association and a strong supporter of student activities. Rod enjoyed spending time with his family. Having moved from Johnstown to Rotterdam two years ago to be closer to his grandchildren, he recently became active at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church and with the Schenectady Inner City Ministry.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jacquelyn; daughters, Heather Moran (Kevin) and Jodi Grindrod; grandchildren, Charles, Troy and Julianne Moran. He is also survived by three brothers, four sisters, and their spouses, as well as many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss his quick sense of humor and mischief-making at family gatherings. Family and friends are invited to a calling period from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a memorial service to immediately follow at 2 p.m.
