Virginia (Ginny) Edith Isolda, age 88, of Johnstown, slipped away from this earth and joined the souls of her family in heaven on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at her childrens’ home in Gloversville surrounded by her loving family.
She was a strong woman who raised her children to be loving, hardworking, honest, and to value family above all else. She spent her life living and working in Gloversville, retiring from St. Thomas in 1989. Not one to sit, she taught herself to sew and crochet, and made beautiful quilts for family.
She was born on August 11, 1929, in Gloversville, New York, daughter of the late James Henry Cayea and Julia Edith Parks.
Virginia is survived by her children, Paula Knoll of Gloversville, NY, Robert and Velma Isolda of Fonda, NY, Catherine and Robert Shaw of Horseheads, NY, and David Isolda of Gloversville, NY.
Ginny was adored by her grandchildren, Aaron and Denise Knoll, Amanda and Rob Nite, Michael Cannon, Mattia Tolleter, Justin Isolda, Christopher and Mary Hunt, Jason and Michelle Hunt, Samantha Isolda, and Courtney Isolda and Cameron Skottke; and her great-grandchildren, Katherine and Zachary Knoll, Liam Nite, Vincent Tolleter, Bailey Isolda, Alex and Brody Hunt and Jack Fries; and many nieces and nephews including Nick and Jean Nicolella, Mike and Karen Nicolella and Chris and Larry Ogren.
She was predeceased by brothers, James Cayea, Paul Cayea; sisters, Anna “Margaret” Nicolella and Alena “Lee” Poulsen.
As per Virginia’s wishes, there will be no funeral service at this time. A celebration of her life will be held on August 11, at the Broadalbin American Legion Pavilion starting at 1 p.m.
