Edna K. (Knoblauch) Brooks, age 82, of Bleecker, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born in Ephratah on May 3, 1935, a daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice Brown Knoblauch.
Edna was a class of 1953 graduate of Gloversville High School. She worked for many years at Woolworth’s Department Store in Gloversville. Mrs. Brooks was also a school bus driver for Stanley Smith in Gloversville. She was a proud grandmother and Aunt Edna to the many children she babysat over the years.
Edna was of the Methodist faith and longtime member of the Bleecker United Methodist Church. She was the main cook at the Bleecker Fish and Game Club dinners for 50 years and also a lifetime member of the club.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her children, Robert Brooks (Joann), Linda Cosselman (George), Jeff Brooks (Denise) and Joe Brooks (Cheryl); six sisters, June Manchester, Dorothy Manchester (George), Barbara Manchester (Ralph), Roberta Beauchamp, Ruth Etherton (Nick) and Betty Wagar (Ed); six grandchildren, Jasen Brooks, Steven Cosselman, Ginger Cosselman, Louie Racona, Adina Marshall and Jeff Brooks (Hooter); nine great-grandchildren, Taylor Cosselman, Alexandra Cosselman, Kiersten Young, Blake Sweet, Cheyenne Lehre, Dakoda Racona, Colt Marshall, Kyle Brooks and Evan Brooks; one great-great-granddaughter, Skylynn Bleyl; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Edna was predeceased by her husband, Douglas H. Brooks, whom she married on July 4, 1953, and who passed on January 5, 2007. She was also predeceased by her sister, Anna Simonson; two grandchildren, George Cosselman and Rachael Cosselman; daughter-in-law, Debbie Baird Brooks; brother-in-law, Richard Beauchamp; and her black lab, Brut.
At Edna’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial service for Mrs. Brooks will be conducted in the spring at the convenience of the family.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
