E. Daniel Crowley, 69, of Edinburg, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born in Troy, NY, on February 22, 1949, he was the son of Nancy Wells and Edward M. Crowley and the oldest of their ten children. He graduated from Averill Park High School in 1967 and received a B.A. in history from Siena College in 1971.
He married Sandra Ruzzi in 1971 and they had a son, Michael and a daughter, Caitlin. Widowed in 2000, he later met and married Jolene Cornell, also widowed with two daughters, Janessa and Kelsey. Dan was a loving father and so proud of all his children’s accomplishments.
For over 30 years, Dan resided in Delmar, NY, where he owned a Pepperidge Farm cookie franchise. He retired in 2006, and later moved to the Great Sacandaga Lake where he enjoyed kayaking, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Dan was a private pilot for 32 years and owned a Cessna 182 which he loved to fly throughout the northeast and on occasional flights across the country. He also loved traveling, especially to the national parks and the Cayman Islands, where he was an avid scuba diver. He sang in the choirs at St. Francis of Assisi and the First United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Edward Crowley; and by wife Sandra.
He is survived by wife, Jolene; son, Michael Crowley of Schenectady, NY; daughter, Caitlin Crowley of Boston, MA; and two stepdaughters, Janessa (Edward) Urwin of Plainsboro, NJ, and Kelsey Cornell of Saratoga Springs, NY; and nine siblings, Christine Crowley of East Schodack, NY; Kathleen (Gary) Sullivan of Salisbury, MA; W. Patrick Crowley of Valatie, NY; Maureen (Matthew) Heffner of Castleton on Hudson, NY; Margaret (Timothy) Lance of Waterford, NY; Ann (Peter) Glasser of Myrtle Beach, SC; Timothy Crowley of Granite Bay, CA; Elizabeth Monticolo of Pattersonville, NY; and Carrie Crowley Denham of Apex, NC.
Calling hours will be at the Northville Funeral Service Inc., 401 Bridge Street, Northville NY 12134 on Thursday, April 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi, 501 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134, on Friday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m.
