Robert W. Yoran, 89, of 116 Weaver Road, town of Oppenheim, Dolgeville, died early Monday morning, April 9, 2018, at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, New York after a brief illness.

He was born on March 4, 1929, in Johnstown, New York and was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Hall) Yoran. In his younger years, Robert was educated at a one-room schoolhouse in Oppenheim and later on attended Dolgeville Central School, graduating with the class of 1947.

Robert was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Ward on August 26, 1950, at St. Mary’s Parish House in Little Falls. They shared a blessed union of 65 years until Mrs. Yoran passed away on October 18, 2015.

He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator for the I.O.E.U. 545 in Syracuse, New York eventually merging with several other unions forming the I.O.E.U. 158. Robert was employed with several construction companies serving for over 55 years of service when he retired in 1991.

In his spare time, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and motorcycling. He truly cherished the time he spent with his family. He was of the Methodist faith and was a longtime member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department as well as a current member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department Benevolent Association where he served as treasurer for several years.

He is survived by his beloved children, Robert Yoran of Colton, NY, Mark Yoran and his wife, Shirley of Dolgeville, NY, and Dale Wilcox and her husband, Kevin of Broadalbin; his loving grandchildren, Alicia and Jeffery Yoran, Denver Yoran, Heath and Michael Kane, Stephanie and Darek Wilcox and Michael and Steven Balderston; his cherished great-grandchildren, Patrick and Julia Kane, Brodie and Chase Balderston, and Danah Yackel, and a sister, Joan Broat and her husband, James of Dolgeville, NY.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann Yoran on October 18, 2015; an infant son, Jeffery C. Yoran on November 22, 1957; a daughter, Jacqueline R. Balderston on December 13, 2017; and a brother, Raymond Yoran.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will begin immediately following calling hours at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the funeral home beginning with members of the Salisbury Fire Department giving Robert funeral honors and prayers for their fallen brother and also with Pastor Anthony Bradseth officiating the service. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Patricia.
