Susan H. [Dumblewski] Ryba

Susan H. [Dumblewski] Ryba, 60, of Princetown, New York, passed away on December 20, 2018, after a brief illness at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. She was surrounded by family.

On June 15, 1985, Susan married the love of her life, John Ryba. Five years later, Susan gave birth to the joy of their life, Shaun.

Susan enjoyed a successful nursing career for over 42 years. Earning her nursing degree from Maria College in 1994, Susan spent the last 26 years as an RN in charge of infectious disease control and MDS at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, New York.

Born February 16, 1958, Susan was the eldest daughter of the late Francis P. Dumblewski and surviving mother, Roberta G. Dumblewski of Amsterdam, New York.

Susan was predeceased by her brother, the late Joseph M. Dumblewski; and brother-in-law, Richard Ryba.

Susan is survived by her loving son, Shaun Ryba of Hagaman, New York; and loving husband, John Ryba of Princetown, New York. She is also survived by her five brothers, Frank Dumblewski (Rose), Timothy Dumblewski, John Dumblewski (Missy), Charles Dumblewski (Lisa) and Peter Dumblewski (Linda), all of Amsterdam, New York; and three beautiful sisters, Nancy G. Hennessey (Tom) of Mayfield, New York, Julianne Coddington (Shaun) of Amsterdam, New York and Jennifer Eplite of Deltona, Florida who cared for Susan with love and compassion throughout the course of her illness; brother-in-law, Paul Ryba of Hagaman, New York; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Susan had a special place in her heart for her best friend of 38 years, Janet; and her closet colleagues at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center — Sandy, Eileen, Barbara, Karen, Jennifer, Rachel and Toni. She is eternally grateful for their kindness, loyalty and friendship.

A prayer service will be held at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, 51 Pawling Street, Hagaman, New York, with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis, celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s name to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, New York.
