Mrs. Virginia J. Ford, 88, of Gloversville, NY, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Born in North Bush, NY, on June 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ransselear and Bertha Benedict Pedrick.
A lifelong area resident, Virginia was employed by the Daytona Company in Amsterdam, NY, for many years until her retirement. She also enjoyed caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On May 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard Ford. That union lasted 36 years until his passing on July 10, 1986. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Raymond, Clayton, Harold, Ernest, Douglas; and her sisters, Gladys, Blanche and Laura.
Survivors include her five children, Richard Ford (Denise Lampheare) of Mayfield, NY, Michael (Ida) Ford of Fort Johnson, NY, Sharon Mancini of Gloversville, NY, Nancy Wiley of Clifton Park, NY and Marjorie (Fred) Cayea of Cohoes, NY; one sister, Barbara O’Donald of Gloversville, NY; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 12 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, with the Rev. Bonnie Orth presiding. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A period will precede the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
