Alan R. Bellinger

Alan R. Bellinger, 86, of Progress Road, Gloversville, passed away on Sunday morning, June 9, 2019, at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare.

He was born at home in the town of Ephratah on July 1, 1932, a son of Frank and Mariatta Clark Bellinger and was a 1948 graduate of Johnstown High School. Alan was a lifelong area resident.

In his younger years, he was employed as a tree surgeon and later worked in local construction. In 1988, he established Alan Bellinger Electrical, which he owned and operated until retiring in 2008.

Mr. Bellinger was very active in the churches he belonged to, which included the First Baptist Church in Johnstown, Perth Bible Church, and most recently the Adirondack Baptist Church. He was devoted to the children’s ministries, bus ministries, and the buildings and grounds committee.

Alan enjoyed hunting, camping, and outdoor activities. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Jambo Bellinger, whom he married on August 8, 1959; three daughters, Tammy Lee (Chip) Welton of Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, Kelly (Terry) Cowper of Tampa, FL, and Tracy (Justin) Bathrick of Ontario, NY; two brothers, Frank Bellinger of Gloversville and Pete Bellinger of Tempe, AZ; a sister, Dianne Johnson of Mayfield; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Adirondack Baptist Church, 1431 Route 29, Gloversville, followed by a service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Nate Petersen and Alan’s son-in-law, the Rev. Chip Welton, as officiants. Burial will follow at Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Ministry at Adirondack Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095.
