Mr. David P. Bouck, 79, of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, New York, passed away, Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at St. Mary’s Healthcare of Amsterdam.
Born on September 11, 1939, in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of Paul Bouck and Ida Mae Bellinger Bouck Istle.
He attended MVCC to pursue a degree in civil engineering.
Mr. Bouck served in the U.S. Army.
He retired as Commissioner of Public Works for Montgomery County in December 2000.
Mr. Bouck was a member of the Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department for over 55 years. He served for many years on Montgomery County Fire Investigation Team. He was also a deputy fire coordinator for Montgomery County.
He was an avid hunter, loved nature and golf. David was an active member of the community. He took pride in his volunteer work and enjoyed helping people, never looking for recognition. He enjoyed watching the many teams Craig Phillips coached and watching Topper baseball games.
On April 28, 1962, at the Fort Plain United Methodist Church, David was married to Shirley Z. Bouck. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2017. His brothers, Ronald, Eugene; sisters, Polly, and a baby sister, Doris also predeceased him.
Mr. Bouck is survived by his daughter, Andrea Bouck of Fort Plain, NY; and brother, Russell Bouck of Schenectady, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and special friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15th at noon at the chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a service provided by the Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery with military honors.
