Gordon Arthur Brown, age 90, a resident of Northville, passed away on Thursday May 30, 2019, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 10, 1928, in Rutland, VT, the son of the late Charles and Harriet C. Brown. He attended Gloversville High School and was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II.

He married E. Frances Smith on August 19, 1950. He was employed by General Electric as a Nuclear Welder from 1950 to 1972.

He was a member of the Pin Tree Rifle Club since 1950; a member of the Concordia Club and Moose Club and the 80 Plus Ski Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was interested in all sports especially golf, skiing and fly tying. He loved to travel with his beloved family. Gordon’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his beloved wife and family.

Survivors include his wife, E. Frances Brown of Northville; one son, Bradley A. Brown (Terri) of Mayfield; and one daughter, Stacey M. Hassan (William) of Northville; one sister, Shirley Houserman Meschino of Artesia, New Mexico; grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Douglas Brown, Jessica (Michael) VanNostrand and Samantha Hassan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Rawland G. Brown and twin Roland Brown.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Northville Funeral Home.
