Mr. Harvey H. Crouse, 81, formerly of Nelliston, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the St. Johnsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsville , NY with his family at his side.

Born in Canajoharie, NY on April 17, 1938, a son of the late Clifford and Hazel Benton Crouse. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.

Harvey served in the U.S. Navy as an Airman Apprentice from 1955 to 1957.

Mr. Crouse worked on farms and was a tree surgeon for a time. He was employed for over 40 years as a forklift operator for Beech-Nut Foods in Canajoharie, NY, retiring in 1999. He along with his wife owned and operated the former J and H Used Furniture in Fort Plain for many years.

Harvey enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a proud member of the Tri Town Coon Hunters Club also.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hoffman Crouse. They were married on March 12, 1960. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children: one son, David B. (Jodi) Crouse of Burnt Hills, NY; four daughters, Sheila L. Crouse-Trahan of Fort Plain, NY, Sharon A. (Norman) Kneeskern of Nelliston, NY, Dawn M. Crouse of Johnstown, NY and Donna L. (Rich) Paddon of Fort Plain, NY; brother, Gary “Porky” (Pat) Crouse of Fort Plain, NY; sister, Thelma Reid of Fort Plain, NY; cherished grandchildren, Lynn (Charlie) Raker, Brian (Linda) Trahan, Kyle Miller, Michael Crouse, Kayla Crouse, Holly (Keith) Rubino, Stephen Kneeskern, Jordan Rose, Chelsea, Jenna and Richie Paddon; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford and Kenny; and a sister, Marion.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding. Interment with military honors will follow in Fort Plain Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 1, 2019, prior to the funeral service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
