Jean H. Warner, 85, of Mayfield, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019.
Born in Gloversville on May 22, 1934, to the late Alfred and Ella Sitterly, she was a graduate of Gloversville High School and the University at Albany. She started her career as a math teacher but quickly changed paths. She then worked at GE for several years as well as Grandoe Glove Manufacturing and Winnigs Footwear. During the late ‘60s and early ‘70s Jean worked for the village of Mayfield as clerk and treasurer.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Duane Warner of Mayfield. They married on June 29, 1957, and shared 36 beautiful years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Kristel (Ronald Hoyt); beloved grandson, Jarrod Kristel and his wife, Cassie. Her two great-grandchildren, Braydon and Madilyn Kristel were her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Sitterly (Carole) and their daughter Anna; brother in-law Roger Warner (Casey); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean was a longtime volunteer at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. She received numerous awards there but was most known for her good-will award in 1999.
She was a member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed playing the piano.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, knitting, crocheting and bird watching.
Calling hours will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY 12078. A service will be held immediately following calling hours. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Mohawk Valley Hospice or a charity of your choosing, in Jean’s honor.
