Family and friends are invited to attend a special memorial Mass for Marylin J. Porter McGuire, 87, who passed peacefully on March 18, 2019, at Estelle’s House Hospice Facility in Ocala, Florida.

A memorial Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church (formerly St. Patrick’s Church) at 205 Glebe St., Johnstown, NY 12095. Following Mass, burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery at 545 N. Perry St., Johnstown. After burial, family and friends are invited to attend a special reception celebrating Marylin’s life at Hales Mills Country Club located at 146 Steele Road, Johnstown, NY.

Marylin was born on March 25, 1931, in Lancaster, NH, and was the daughter of the late Winfield F. Porter and Mildred Donohue Porter.

She was a graduate of Gloversville High School, NY, and a longtime Johnstown, NY resident. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church.

She was married to her beloved husband, John for sixty eight years. She was the mother of four children and dedicated her life to them. She will be remembered for her friendly demeanor and fierce independence. She had a great passion for books and reading. They resided in Johnstown, NY, where they raised their family until 1980, at which time they moved to Mount Olive, NC.

In 1996 they retired in Dunnellon, Florida in Spruce Creek Preserve golf community.

Marylin was predeceased by her parents; and her beloved brother, Robert Porter of South Glens Falls, NY.

She is survived by her husband, John F. McGuire and her children, John McGuire Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID, Michael and (Catherine) McGuire of Schenectady, NY, Kevin McGuire and (Virginia Leslie) of Sanford, FL, Timothy and (Eileen) McGuire of Brunswick, NY. Also survived by nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her beloved sister-in-law, Barbara Porter of whom she was very fond of, and many nieces nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
