Scott H. Ruby, age 64, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
He was born in Gloversville, on January 9, 1955, a son of the late Carl Ruby and Margaret Lathers Sowle.
Scott was a graduate of Gloversville High School. He was employed for many years at Ruby & Quiri and also at Lexington Center. Mr. Ruby was a member of Gloversville First Congregational United Church of Christ. Scott truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting with friends and family, writing poems, helping to hold the door open for someone or giving one of his famous bear hugs. Scott truly had the gift of bringing a smile to anyone he came in contact with. He will truly be missed.
Scott is survived by two brothers Richard Ruby and Mike Sowle (Teresa); one sister, Amy Karas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be at the Gloversville First Congregational United Church of Christ, 31 East Fulton Street, on Monday, June 10, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph English officiating.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Contributions in Scott’s memory may be made to the Regional Animal Shelter, 117 West Fulton Street, Gloversville, New York 12078. Scott had such a love for animals and all his pets he mentioned them often in his wonderful poems.
