Thomas E. Marcais

Thomas E. Marcais, 68, of County Highway 155, Gloversville, passed away Wednesday June 5, 2019, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Gloversville on July 5, 1950, a son of the late Victor and Frances DeGrush Marcais, and moved to Broadalbin in 1964. Tom was a 1968 graduate of Broadalbin High School. He was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Marcais was employed as a supervisor at Universal Warehousing, where he worked for more than twenty-five years. After retiring, he continued to assist there when needed.

Tom was a former member of the Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Company and served for twenty years.

He enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. Tom took great pleasure in mowing and maintaining his lawn. His family often joked that he used a ruler to measure its height. He also enjoyed hosting backyard barbecues for family and friends.

Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Amber Austin Marcais, whom he married on August 1, 1970; a son, Thomas Joseph of St. Johnsville; a daughter, Angela Mary (Paul Meacham) of Broadalbin; a daughter-in-law, Kathy of Perth; two granddaughters, Charlotte (Frankie Padilla) and Emma Rae; three great-grandchildren, Ariana, Mason, and Ayden Padilla; a brother, Victor (Song) of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters, Mary Scoggins of Johnstown and Julia (Mike) Bishop of Gloversville; a sister-in-law, Lucille Strait of Johnstown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In accordance with Tom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., Johnstown, NY.
