Mrs. Barbara J. Treleaven, 85, of Fonda, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born on April 30, 1934, in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Esther (Baker) Searle.

Barbara was raised in the Marcellus area, near Syracuse. After graduating high school she attended Holton College, and later Oswego College. She was united in marriage to Clarence Treleaven on October 23, 1954. They moved to Fultonville in 1986, where she cared for her family. Barbara was a member of the Adirondack Baptist Church in Gloversville. She was also a Sunday school teacher in her younger years. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.

Her loving family includes her son, Wayne C. (Patricia) Treleaven of Fultonville, NY; her daughters, Irene McMann of Almond, NY, and Virginia (Doug Treleaven) Richens of Interlaken, NY; her brothers, David (Mable) Searle of Bernhards Bay, NY, and Ralph (Maureen) Searle of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jerrod Rynders, Jason Rynders, Eric Vassar, Barbara Treleaven, and Charlie Treleaven; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Adirondack Baptist Church, 1431 State Highway 29, Gloversville, NY 12078 with the Reverend Nate Peterson presiding. Interment will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Richford, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, July 19, 2019, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Fultonville, NY 12072.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Adirondack Baptist Church or to the Office for the Aging.
