Christine Hall, 88, of Gloversville, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 30, 2019, at the Wells House, Johnstown, New York. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Christine was born on October 3, 1930, in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Charles and Lillie May (Brown) Leslie. She moved from Georgia to Gloversville in 1947 with her family. Christine met Benjamin and after he told her she was “cute,” they wed on January 2, 1951. They celebrated 64 years together until his passing on August 30, 2015.
For many years Christine worked at MCA Records. Christine’s greatest joys were her family and love of God. She and Benjamin opened their home and hearts to friends and family, where they entertained throughout the years. Everyone was welcomed and could always expect great food, even better conversation, and endless laughter. She was the matriarch of wonderful Christmas parties that have become a long-lasting and cherished memory for family and friends.
Christine was talented and gifted in arts and crafts and shared her gifts with many. Her spirit will live forever in the many lives of those she touched.
Survivors left to mourn are her sons, Benjamin D. Hall of Savannah, GA, and Douglas Hall of Johnstown, NY; daughters, Vanessa J. Hall of Schenectady, NY, Najeyah (Rasheed) Sultan of John’s Creek, GA, and Juanita (Richard) Schwed of Gloversville, NY; and daughter-in-law, Amy Hall of Gloversville. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Hall; brothers, James (Cathy) Brown, Thomas Leslie and Stanley Leslie’ sisters- in-law, Ethellene Leslie and Maude Hall. Christine was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Christine was predeceased by her brother, Henry G. Leslie; sister, Marion Sephas; granddaughter Anita Vrooman; and great-grandson, Lincoln Hall.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Well’s House nursing staff for the wonderful care Christine received during her three-year stay. Their generosity and support was greatly appreciated and we can’t thank you enough for everything that you have done.
