Lori Irene VanAuken, age 61, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 24, 1958, in Schenectady, a daughter of Joseph LaFore, who survives and the late Ruth Franklin LaFore.
Lori was a graduate of Linton High School in Schenectady. She made a career in caring for others as a Home Health Aide for several area healthcare providers including Top Quality Care of Johnstown. She enjoyed her time in Florida with her friends and family. She loved being in the sun, on the beach and around the beautiful palm trees. She loved animals especially her dog Little Bear. Lori had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody.
In addition to her father, Lori is survived by her five children, Jennifer R. Kuchark (Ryan) Jason N. Chase (Shayla), Janel M. Chase (Alicia), Jeana VanAuken (Shawn) and Lilly VanAuken (Kris); two sisters, Shari Degele (Travis) and Debbie Cohen (Carl); twelve grandchildren, Alexander, Nikolai, and Marcus (Kuchark), Elaena, Elyssa, Emelia and Arya (Chase), Charlie and Jodie (Taylor), Makenna and Miranda (Sturm) and Kaiden (Oare).
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, with Father Matthew Wetsel officiating.
Memorial visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
