Alma E. Frederick

Mrs. Alma E. Frederick, 92, of Gloversville, NY, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 2, 2019, following a brief illness. Born on October 29, 1926, in Porum, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late William and Mamie Goodner.

Alma was employed by several local companies including Woolworth’s, Coleco, St. Thomas’ and Ward Products until her retirement. Alma was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing Skip Bo and Scrabble. Alma also enjoyed walking, especially to the Gloversville Library, where she was a strong supporter and an avid reader. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and making a homemade meal. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alpha Frederick Jr.; a daughter, Carolyn Baird; and her siblings, Ginny, Mary, Tommy, Boady, L.D. Emma, and Glenda.

Survivors include her five children, Patricia Brown and her husband Kenneth, Edna Frederick and her husband Jeremy Walsh, Alpha Frederick III and his wife Susan, Gary Frederick and his wife JoAnne, Mary Frederick; her sister, Shirley Warren; a son-in-law, Tom Baird; many grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A legacy candle ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 4 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held prior to the ceremony, beginning at 2 p.m. Private burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
