Georgette Farhart Deraney, age 84, of Wayne, N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2019 while in the presence of her loving family.
“Gette”, as she was affectionately called, was born in Gloversville to Fay and Eugenie Farhart.
She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1952 and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Cortland State University in 1956.
She was married to Henry “Hank” Deraney for 45 years and raised three children, Henry Jr., Robert and Michele.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert, who died in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center; her husband, Henry, who died in 2002; and her daughter, Michele Haobsch, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2007.
After a short time as a teacher in N.J., Gette raised her family in wayne, N.J. where she and her husband started and ran the Deran Water Conditioning business.
She is survived by her son, Hank Jr. (Debby) of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; brother George (Pamela) of Gloversville; sister Margo (James) of Oneonta; and sister-in-law, Pam Deraney of wayne, N.J.
She was a loving grandmother to Henry III (Angie), James (Kelly), Daniel (Michele Leto), Zade Haobsch, and Zana Haobsch, as well as her great-grandchildren Henry Iv, Jack, Bennett and Nora. She will also be missed dearly by her many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held on Monday, Aug. 12 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church of Pompton Lake.
