Mary V. Mraz, age 91, of Johnstown, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home with her son by her side.

She was born on January 12, 1928, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Martin and Maria Habek Vacula.

Mary was a class of 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School and Albany Business College. She worked for many years as a secretary for Crescendoe Gloves. Mrs. Mraz and her family owned and operated Sir William Antiques from 1968 to 2003. Mary was a talented artist and was well known for her hand painted milk cans. She enjoyed attended many of antique shows in Madison, Round Lake and Cooperstown to name a few as well as countless garage sales. Mrs. Mraz also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family at Blue Mountain Lake. Mary loved her flowers and her favorite television programs including westerns, travel, cooking and game shows. She will be remembered for her loyalty, honesty, athleticism and sense of humor.

She was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of the former St. Anthony’s Church and member of the Johnstown Sokol.

Mary is survived by her son, Martin Mraz of Johnstown; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Mraz was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Aldin J. Mraz, whom passed on September 8, 1991; and her sister, Helen A. Havel.

At Mary’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Johnstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, New York or to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
